Hey went through the steps on installing it and getting it up and running which made the process really helpful. Lawrence from Lawrence System forums makes really easy videos to follow and understand things and he had an entire series dedicated to xcp-ng (open source, no licensing, fully featured).
I don't work in IT so virtualizing my router was really my first adventure into Type I hypervisors and such. In terms of xcp-ng - yeah I admit its not one of the more popular hypervisors with probably esxi and proxmox have the largest shares. I did bork my installation with some setting once (don't recall what I did), but the ability to restore to last saved snapshot really came in useful for this one. It's just for home use/home lab so its really flexible.
I ended up with total 32Gb of RAM which I think is max the board on the Protectli devices can handle.
